Build your own caves
The Resonance Cave level editor lets you build your own levels and play them in test mode. You don’t need an account for this. You only need to sign in if you want to submit a level. The game rules are on the Resonance Cave page.
Create a draft
Create a new level under “Your drafts”. Choose a size between 4 × 4 and 32 × 24 cells, or load the sample cave and edit it. Changes are saved automatically in your browser.
Build the cave
Use “Wall”, “Earth” and “Open tunnel” to draw the cave by clicking or dragging. Walls cannot be changed during play. You can dig away earth. Earth beneath a rock stops it from falling.
Then place the player start, exit, crystals and rocks. Drag objects with your mouse or finger to move them. Objects need an open tunnel cell; crystals can also be placed in earth. Resonance rocks belong to group A or B. Rocks in the same group are linked. Use “Undo” and “Redo”, or Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y, to correct changes.
Test the level
Under “Check & test”, the editor tells you whether the structure is valid. The level needs exactly one player start and one exit. Each resonance group you use must have at least two rocks, and no rock may fall before the first move. Once these conditions are met, you can test the level, check solvability and export it.
“Test level” opens a playable copy. Move with the arrow keys or W, A, S and D. G plus a direction digs without moving the character. Z undoes a move; R restarts. On a phone, use the direction buttons below the board. When you solve the level, your moves are saved for submission.
Check solvability
Use “Check solvability” to search for a solution. If the editor finds one, it shows the fewest moves needed. Otherwise, it reports “unsolvable” or “unknown”. “Unknown” means the search reached its limit before it could determine the result. It does not mean your level is unsolvable. Test it yourself, or reduce the areas of earth to simplify the automatic search.
Save and submit
Under “Level definition”, export your draft as a JSON file to back it up or move it to another device. Exporting does not upload the level.
To submit a level, you need a creator account and a creator name. You sign in through a link sent by email. Solve the current version in test mode before submitting it. If you make changes afterwards, solve it again. The server checks your moves, then the level is reviewed by hand. Accepted levels appear among the community levels, where anyone can play them without an account.
