Deduction Rush – logic training on the clock

Deduction Rush trains the one move every logic puzzle rests on: seeing what is forced. Two minutes, one position after another, four answers to choose from – and exactly one of them must be true. It starts only when you tap “Play rush” below.

How it works

A run lasts 120 seconds, measured on the server. Instead of solving a whole puzzle you are shown a position and four answers. On the grid puzzles these are four marked cells, each with a claim: “Row 2, column 4 is 1”, “Row 3, column 1 is a mine”, “Row 5, column 2 shows 6”. In Code it is one position of the colour code with four colours to pick from. The question never changes: what is certain here?

The promise behind it is checked, not just stated. Of the four answers exactly one follows from the position, and the other three demonstrably do not. Forced means without trial and error – using the techniques the puzzle asks for anyway. The wrong answers usually sit right next to the correct one, in the same row or column.

Every puzzle type appears in a run: Paritu (zeros and ones), Minesweeper, Code and Pipsum (sums made of dice pips). They change in blocks of three questions, so you do not have to re-orient with every single one. Each question is asked on the starting position of a task, not in the middle of a half-solved board.

Each question gets one answer, then the next arrives. When you are right, striduel names the technique that carries the conclusion. When you are wrong, it costs time off the clock – not the run – and you are likewise told which technique was the key. At the end you see how many you hit and how many you missed.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know the puzzles first?

It helps. Rush asks for conclusions you know from the full puzzles. If a puzzle type is new to you, play it in practice mode first or read its help page; the technique Rush names after an answer is a good place to begin.

Why are the answers colours in Code rather than cells?

Code has no cell-by-cell path. There the question is which colour is settled at one particular position, so the four answers are four colours for that one position. The question is the same as on the grids: what is forced?

Does a wrong answer end the run?

No. It costs time and nothing else. A run that ends on a single miss would reward hesitation; here a mistake costs exactly what it costs – the chance to answer one more question.

Does Deduction Rush count towards my streak?

No. The streak belongs to the Daily Sprint. Rush is training and thrives on repetition; play it as often as you like.

Do I need an account?

No. You can play anonymously, with no sign-up and no email address. striduel shows a personal best only once you have explicitly saved your progress on the device; it then comes from the server and covers all time, not just today.

Does everyone get the same questions?

Not in the way the Daily Sprint works. Questions come from a prepared stock, and which ones a run draws differs from run to run. Within a run you never see the same question twice.
